Hope you guys get to go to church tonight for All Saints Day!
Anyways, I guess I should introduce myself, that’s usually a good place to start. Well, my name is Laura (or you may know me as Lala – that’s a different story for a different time). I’m a 17 year-old high school senior, and my birthday is this month. Pretty exciting since I’ll be a legal adult.
My Catholic faith is one of the most important things to me. I sing in the church choir (there’s a bunch of good stories about that choir) and I’m a cantor. What’s a cantor? You ask. Well, a cantor is the person who leads the singing during Mass. They usually sing the Pslam (though some parishes have it read by a lector — it can be done either way). In fact, I’m cantoring All Saints Day tonight.
Besides singing at mass, I teach fifth grade religious education. I’ve been teaching some form or fashion of religious education since I was in seventh grade (while going to my own classes as a student afterword).
But, trust me, I do a lot more than just go to church, though, it does seem like I live there on Sundays. I work for a bowling alley/party place. I write books. I take pictures. I’m the oldest of four (including a special needs child). And I blog (obviously).
While I’m staunchly Catholic, I understand that it isn’t for everyone, but here, I hope to explain to people why my Catholic faith is so important to me and how my life wouldn’t be complete without it.
